I tried to install it but it did not work.
  1. The large color screen on the Fantom X6 was a real head-turner when it was released in 2004. Big screens weren't all that new, but color ones certainly were!.
  2. Roland Fantom X6 Series Are The; Roland Fantom X6 Download The Right; Roland Fantom X6 Driver For Macs; Roland Fantom X6 Driver For Macs. Next I plugged in the Fantom to the USB port, opened the Device Manager, and manually installed the driver by pointing it to the directory holding all the Fantom X driver files.
  3. Note: The last USB drivers released for the Fantom-G series workstations supported Windows 8/8.1 and Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). If you are using a later version operating system, you will need to use the second option for connecting to a computer (Connection using a MIDI interface).
  4. Fantom-X6, Fantom-X7, Fantom-X8: Connecting To A Computer FANTOM 6, FANTOM 7, FANTOM 8: USB Driver Setting FANTOM 6, FANTOM 7, FANTOM 8: How to install the sound content downloaded from Roland Cloud.
Next I ran through this process that tells Windows that it can install unsigned drivers.

In my Fantom X driver archive I found and edited the RDIF1045.inf file
Change [Roland.NTamd64.6.2] so it looks like this:
[Roland.NTamd64.6.2]
Fantom;; Windows10
%RDID0045DeviceDesc%=RDID0045Install, USBVID_0582&PID_006D ; FANTOM-X
(essentially, I just changed the Windows8 to Windows10 and left the rest of the file alone)
Don't run the installer again...instead do it manually...........

5. Browse your disk(s) and find the directory holding your Fantom X drivers.
Hopefully it will find everything it needs and install itself for you.
So far it seems to be working for me, at least the MIDI over USB part..as I haven't tried accessing the memory or flash card yet.
