If you too have had this problem with Toontrack installations, I hope I can help by giving this information which i struggled to find.
“Wrong DVD inserted. Could not parse the installer file. Please insert the first disk of your SDK library”
Launch the Superior Drummer 3 standalone application. Navigate to the Settings menu, then click Libraries. Select Browse for Library Path (s), and then select the external hard drive which the sound libraries are located on. Update the sound libraries. Toontrack Superior Drummer 3 (Core) is the full core sound library of Superior Drummer 3 pre-installed on a 256 GB solid-state drive. A Superior Drummer 3 license is required as you will receive only the sounds without any software. The core sound library contains more than 230GB of raw sound material, recorded by George Massenburg at the Galaxy Studios in Belgium.

I did a bunch of research to figure out what was going on with my SUperior Drummer 2 installations, and couldn’t find much beyond a forum post that was locked because I didn’t have Superior Drummer 3.

Side note: Locking down this content is very short-sighted by Toontrack, in my opinion. Firstly, it presents a terrible user experience. I have spent money with Toontrack not so long ago, and expect to be able to access their forums, despite what products of theirs I own. This isn’t even an issue specific to Superior Drummer 3.
Secondly, from a content marketing perspective, having these replies locked behind what essentially amounts to a pay-wall if very bad for their organic search marketing. Rant over.
Fixing the “Wrong DVD inserted” installation problem
I raised a ticket with Toontrack support, and waited a few days for a response before being told the reason for the problem, and the solution (something that shoudl be clearly published on their website).
“Currently with Catalina, the SD2.0 and SDX library cannot be installed from a download location that is anywhere within the your internal Downloads, Desktop or Documents folders or from an external drive.” – Toontrack support
Following their steps, I was able to get the installation running and the studio back online shortly after starting the process:
- Open Tootrack product manager
- Open the preferences
- Change download location
- Click move downloads
- Complete your installations
- Click ‘Clean up’ to delete all installations files
This is the Library update for Toontrack Superior Drummer 3. It is untouched and downloaded straight from Toontrack. Untouched meaning it is not cracked, however it is just a library update so it shouldn't need to be cracked.

Changes
E-drum hi-hat performance has been improved by loading Open Tip 1-4 in the default, Clean and George Massenburg presets.
Hi-hat Open 5 is no longer loaded by default which makes the transmuting smoother.
‘Mid Center’ snare articulation is now called ‘Off Center’.
Two new presets, ‘Levee’ and ‘Man of Sand’, featured in Toontrack tutorials are now included.
Fixes
Some bad samples have been removed.
Cymbal muting is now working in all presets.
Instruments are now correctly routed to the ambience channels in the ‘Big Swish’ preset.
Some descriptions in the instrument database (search results) have been corrected.
Installation Note:(v1.2.0)
1. Before installing this update, make sure that you have already installed the main library SL-SuperiorDrummer3
(If not, then go to step 1a )
1a. Download the main library and specify the path to the library in the very superior3 ( Settings - Libraries / Paths - Add Library Path (s) ... - and select the SL-SuperiorDrummer3 folder )
2. After that, download this update and run SoundUpdater (.exe or .app depending on your system)
